MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Ann Livingston is seventy-six years old and was recently told she had less than six months to live.
But once you meet the Perry native you have to remind yourself, these are her final days. Her friends say she has a way of making everyone around her smile.
Tuesday, Livingston was granted a shopping spree and free lunch at Olive Garden. She was escorted by a group of her closest friends. They included her nurse, social worker and care takers.
Belinda Powers, Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care social worker called Dream Foundation last month and told them about Livingston, who is battling terminal congestive heart disease.
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio – Two Northeast Ohio representatives from the national organization, Dream Foundation, found themselves in Tracy Edinger’s upstairs duplex apartment on Valentine’s Day with a special gift. Tracy’s wish for a dream wedding following years of battling for cancer was about to happen Saturday, Feb.15, but she and her fiancé Andy Basinger didn’t have a honeymoon planned.
The Dream Foundation made that happen Friday as Tracy unwrapped a basket filled with travel plans to Las Vegas and a check for spending money while there.
Family and friends gathered in Willoughby Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Andy and Tracy’s wedding ceremony. Though visibly tiring easily throughout the afternoon, Tracy, dressed in a beautiful gown through donations, was not about to show any concern for her health, at times verbally encouraging the sometimes tearful crowd with her smile to join the couple on the dance floor as a DJ played music perfect for the occasion. It quickly turned into a true celebration of life.
TRAVERSE CITY — Sarah Hammond spent 34 nerve-wracking hours of airplane travel wondering how to behave when her final connection landed.
Hammond fully understood it would be the last time she saw her mother, Jean Hammond, alive.
“It was scary. I didn’t know what to say or how to act,” Sarah Hammond, a Traverse City resident, said. “I didn’t want to make a big scene out of it because I didn’t want her to be scared.”
Hammond’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s years ago and moved to Hawaii to stay with her other daughter, Karen Fuller. But her health rapidly declined, and doctors recently gave her three to six months to live.
SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) — A Somersworth, New Hampshire woman was granted her dying wish Thursday when her best friend showed up on her doorstep after being apart for 20 years.
Fifty year old Stephanie Defalco was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in June of 2012. Just last month, her condition worsened and she was given one to three months to live. That was reduced to one to three days last weekend when Defalco took a turn for the worse. That’s when she made one request; to see her long lost friend, Ann Hollenbeck.
