Santa Barbara non-profit expands bouquet program for mudslide victims

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A local program that delivers flowers to people who are sick or in need of some cheer is up and running again.

Santa Barbara based Dream Foundation’s ‘Flower Empower’ program was unable to continue its mission for weeks when US 101 was shut down after the Montecito disaster.

On Saturday morning, volunteers gathered at the Hotel Californian to make bouquets.

The bouquets, along with a handmade cooking and cards made by school children, are delivered to hospitals, hospice centers and people recovering at home. All flowers are provided by growers in Carpinteria.

Now the flower empower program is expanding.

Bouquets are also being delivered to people impacted by the recent floods.
