Twenty-Five-Year-Old Terminally-Ill Young Woman Travels to Disney World to Fulfill Final Dream Thanks to Dream Foundation

Press Release | February 13, 2020

Santa Barbara, Calif. January 16, 2020 – Twenty-five year-old Nicole Mikulich will travel from Illinois to Florida on January 20th to enjoy everything Orlando has to offer, including Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando, as she and her parents celebrate her beautiful life. After receiving a terminal diagnosis at the end of last year, Nicole reached out to Dream Foundation with the help of her medical team. Dream Foundation is the only national dream-granting organization for terminally-ill adults and Nicole and her family were over-joyed to hear that they were able to help her with her final Dream.
A former history major, Nicole loves to travel and explore the world around her and dreamed of seeing a part of the country she had not yet explored. Since her diagnosis, Ni-cole’s parents, Sandy and Guy, have made it a point to show her as much of the country as possible and Orlando was always on the list. This final trip would allow Nicole to explore, smile, and forget about the doctors and treatments. It would provide memories to enjoy in the present and solace for her parents in the future.

With help from Sustaining Corporate Partner, Southwest Airlines, Nicole and her parents will travel to Orlando for a five day Dream. This week, Mission Corporate Partner, Genentech will present Nicole with her Dream in an intimate and joyful celebration.

“We fulfill Dreams for terminally-ill adults aged 18 and over across the nation,” says Dream Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Kisa Heyer. “Dreams like this are so important because they can bring comfort and closure to everyone they touch. We know how much this trip will mean to Nicole and her family. It’s something they will look back on for years to come.”
