Foundation helps Wythe man live his dream

Dreamer Stories | September 17, 2017

A Wythe County man recently enjoyed a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, with members of his family courtesy of the Dream Foundation, a California organization that grants dreams to terminally ill adults.

“We had an absolutely wonderful time,” said Debbie Spencer. “I can’t say enough about Hospice (Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia) and the Dream Foundation; it takes my heart, what they do.”

Spencer is the wife of Donald Spencer, 60, who has suffered from heart and vascular problems for two decades.

“They arranged everything. We had absolutely nothing to do but pack our bags,” Spencer said. “They took all of the stress off of us. It was a time for us to get out and relax and not think about a hospital bed in our living room. It was blessing.”
