Dreams do come true, Mother and daughter enjoy New Orleans adventure

Afena Walker always wanted to visit New Orleans. Thanks to the Dream Foundation, she was able to go on the trip of a lifetime.

The Greensburg resident, who is a lung cancer patient, revealed, “I’ve always been interested in going there. I was born in Texas, so I’ve got a little South in me. I’ve heard there’s no place like New Orleans …. I love the Creole and Spanish influences, just the whole atmosphere. The whole culture always fascinated me, and it held up to what I was imagining.”

“During one of Afena’s recent chemotherapy treatments, she told me she had always dreamt of going to New Orleans, but was concerned about the expense,” said Kari Ann Rennekamp, Margaret Mary Cancer Center patient support coordinator. “That’s when I suggested we submit her wish to the Dream Foundation.”
