Adopt a Dream

Welcome to Adopt-A-Dream! Here we showcase just a few of the many dreams we are always working on. Meet some of our dreamers, and please consider donating directly towards their dream!

Amy

To Receive an iPad 2

At only 47, Amy has already spent almost a decade living without full mobility. Through the struggles of relying on walkers and wheelchairs, her computer has been the one constant allowing her, in a way, to escape and get around. The comfort of family has always been just a few mouse clicks or keystrokes away. Over the years she’s made friends with others battling their own serious illnesses and the computer has allowed her to share in their encouragement, strength and support. However, in its terminal stages, Amy’s illness has left her confined to bed. Even there, her range of mobility is shrinking. Soon, using that computer will be physically impossible. Amy’s dream is to hold on to the freedom it brought. An iPad is the perfect replacement. It’s all she needs to bring the world into the palm of her hand.

Azilee

Azilee

After learning of Azilee’s prognosis, her daughter, Stephanie, quit working and put everything into giving the “best care possible.” Now, with a few months left, Azilee dreams of mother-daughter time in a happier setting. At Disney World, they’d bounce from ride to ride, rather than doctor to doctor. There, Azilee could seek out ‘treats,’ rather than ‘treatments.’ Swapping their struggles for just a few days of carefree fun is the true magic of this mother’s dream.

Charles

Charles

Inspired by his idol, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles applied and was accepted to the University of Texas in Austin, seeking to earn his degree in architectural engineering. However, due to his progressing and worsening illness, he was forced to withdraw from the program early in his studies. Though disappointed, Charles has remained mesmerized by Wright’s architectural creations, mainly the world-famous Fallingwater home. It is his dream to travel to the mountains of Pennsylvania with his mother and sister, and see the beautiful structure in person.

Dennis

Dennis

It’s been less than a year since Dennis was diagnosed with stage four cancer and his life was turned upside down. He completed his treatment last month, and there are no more alternatives to try. The reality of his situation and limited prognosis have compounded the importance of spending any final time he can with family. “I wish to have the opportunity to spend time with my three grandchildren before my death,” Dennis writes. A reunion with his loved ones – whether he travels to them or they come to him – would allow Dennis immeasurable comfort and joy.

Dianne

Dianne

“Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot thank you enough,” Dianne writes. Having lived several years “hot and cramped” in a mobile home without air conditioning, Dianne has finally found the opportunity to move into a more comfortable home. With an Arizona summer approaching, escaping to cool air and having room to breathe would make all the difference in her world. However, the confines of her illness are prohibitive; she desperately needs assistance with packing and moving, as well as the expense. For Dianne, relief is just out of reach. In the last months of her life, she is hopeful to receive the comfort she’s been longing for.
