Larry Davis is a 46 year old man losing his battle to Multiple Sclerosis. He lives in a nursing home while his wife, Shelly, and their 5 year old son, Gibson, live nearby in Phoenix AZ. One of his greatest joys is when he and his son can watch the Phoenix Suns play together. Larry’s wish was to meet one of the Phoenix Suns players, Grant Hill. Grant Hill’s wife also has MS, so Larry and his family feel a special connection with Grant Hill. With the wonderful help of the Community Relations Manager at the Suns, we were able to grant Larry’s wish and he got to meet Grant Hill. The Suns treated him to a fantastic day that started with attendance at the morning Shoot-around warm-up and strategy session where Larry and his family got to sit with the Suns General Manager and former NBA player, Steve Kerr. During this session, in addition to meeting Grant Hill, Larry met Shaquille O’Neal, Daniel Banks and several other players who were kind enough to stop and say hello to Larry. The family was showered with gifts of team memorabilia, Larry was interviewed by the local TV stations and a professional photographer was on hand to capture this incredible event for Larry. That evening, we were able to provide Larry and his family with game tickets where they got to share watching a live game together. One of Larry’s volunteer aids from the nursing home, David Jones, generously donated 2 of the tickets for the game. This day truly was a dream come true for Larry Davis and his family.
