Celebration of Dreams

When the Dream Foundation throws a gala, it typically attracts an impressive crowd of supporters. But none more impressive than those gathered at Santa Barbara’s Bacara Resort on November 18, 2011 for their tenth annual “Celebration of Dreams” Gala, honoring designer Donna Karan.

“We are soul sisters, two nice Jewish girls from New York,” explained Barbra Streisand with a broad smile as she took the stage to honor her best pal, Karan, for her work with her Urban Zen Foundation and other charitable entities including the Dream Foundation.

Your Unused Airline Miles Could Help Better Lives This Holiday Season

Forget about earning enough frequent flier miles to score a new neck pillow.

If you’re strapped for cash this holiday season but still in the mood to give back, consider unloading your unused airline miles for those in need.

There are plenty of charities hungry for miles to put toward travel-related expenses, from providing airfare to relatives hoping to visit dying loved ones or simply getting personnel from point A to point B.

Wish of a lifetime

Kenneth Byrnes got a wish of a lifetime fulfilled when recently he got to meet New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Byrnes, 60, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September, traveled to New Orleans on Nov. 11, Veterans Day, and spent nearly an hour watching a Saints indoor practice before meeting with Brees, coach Sean Payton and many of the players.

Non-Cash Ways to Donate to Charity This Holiday Season

Dream Foundation in need of odd or unused airline miles to make travel-related final dreams come true. Continental miles accepted.

Dream Foundation, the first and largest national wish-granting organization for adults in the end stages of life, is offering non-monetary ways to help those in need this holiday season. The 4-Star Charity Navigator-rated organization fulfills nearly 2,000 final dreams each year. Thirty percent – representing approximately 1,000 airline tickets for dream recipients and/or their loved ones – involve travel, including urgent bedside goodbyes, family reunions and final trips with children.
