A terminally ill Santa Barbara woman had one of her final Dreams fulfilled by Santa Barbara-based Dream Foundation.

The organization serves terminally-ill adults and their families by providing end-of-life Dreams that offer inspiration, comfort and closure.

Elke Dreves asked Dream Foundation for a Las Vegas themed party, and she got just that and more last week.

The 77-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer which has metastasized to the bone.

She wanted to share her Dream with family, friends and the hospice staff at Sarah House, where she now lives.

“They are just so good to me here. They really are, they are just wonderful,” said Dreves.

Dreves emigrated from Germany and made her home in Santa Barbara, but also lived in “Sin City” for many years.

Her family said in her younger years, the tall blond stunner used to date famous baseball players like Sandy Koufax. She loves sports, the nightlife and Hollywood glamour.

Since Dreves can no longer go to Las Vegas, Dream Foundation brought Vegas to her. The party had blackjack and roulette tables, and a Vegas style buffet.

“This to me is just really unbelievable,” Dreves said. “Just way beyond my dream. It really is.”
