Dream Foundation delivers toys to kids impacted by Montecito mudslides

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Children impacted by the Montecito mudslides have something to smile about after a Santa Barbara based Dream Foundation dropped off 250 gift wrapped toys to Montecito Union School students on Thursday.

The gifts have toys and games inside for both genders.

The donation was made through Dream Foundation’s Flower Empower program which delivers flowers to people in hospice, cancer centers and their homes.

Flower Empower is unable to make deliveries because of the Highway 101 closure, and lack of access to flower growers in Carpinteria.

Dream Foundation CEO Kisa Heyer said everyone in the community has been directly or indirectly impacted and she was determined to help in some way.

“We realized through the Flower Empower program that we can reach out to the Santa Barbara community. We know so many children are out of their homes. They’ve been evacuated. They are all on different campuses. Some of the schools have even suffered the loss of children. We’re hopeful these toys will bring a bit of cheer and perhaps diversion to their days,” Heyer said.

Dream Foundation’s partner Genentech helped make this special delivery of toys possible.
