Letter from Thomas — June 2010
At any given time, Dream Foundation is working on approximately 130 dreams. Our dream department consists of three full time dream coordinators – and a number of volunteers – who plan, schedule, coordinate, and allocate resources to make dreams come true. Every month or so, we provide Evercare with just a small sampling of the dreams we serve thanks to your referrals and investment in dreams.
When learning about dreams like Julian’s we understand that the beauty of a dream can be found in the momentum of support it generates. Usually, it is a hospice nurse or social worker that gets the ball rolling by filing out the application form. This is the first step in taking an unfulfilled desire and making it a reality, instilling hope and anticipation along the way. Then the dream comes to us, and the momentum builds like a snowball. Volunteer dream hosts personally deliver the dream with a hug and a celebration. Hotels, restaurants, and tour groups – inspired by a wish from the heart – offer in-kind services. And then there are the individuals on the periphery of the dream, like the Marines of “8th & I”, who independently choose to rally around a final dream to make it truly magical.
Each step of a dream, from the paperwork to the fulfillment, requires care and compassion. With your generosity, assistance, and belief in the Dream Foundation, we are able to make dreams come true together.
The finished product of your caring efforts is illustrated in the smiles as displayed in the photos featured in this newsletter. We at Dream Foundation thank you for igniting the momentum of a dream.
